God Has a Plan, Hebrews 1:1-3

6. God’s plan for your life always prepares you before he involves you.

Exodus 2:10 (NIV)

10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.”

Exodus 2:14 (NIV)

14 The man said, “Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought, “What I did must have become known.”

Exodus 3:1 (NIV)

1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

A. Because the princess adopted Moses as her own son, he was given a special education by the Egyptians. We know that from Acts 7:23, that tells us Moses was 40 years old when he killed the Egyptian. So God allowed him to see the inner working of Egypt for many years.

B. God taught Moses through his failure. Moses had acted on his own without God’s leadership and God was teaching that you have to wait for my leadership.

C. Being a shepherd for 40 years taught him how to lead a people because sheep are stubborn just like people are stubborn.

Conclusion

Whose plan are we following? God’s plan for our life or our plan for our life!

Bible Study Notes for the Sermon

1. The principle that we see emerge in the first three Chapters is that God is a God of redemption and He has a plan for your salvation.

2. The Hyksos ruled Egypt from 1759 BC to 1539 BC. These were outsiders not Egyptians. In 1539BC they were driven out of Egypt.

3. The Hebrew opposition began when the Egyptians became alarmed at their numbers.

4. We don’t know how long the decree to kill the male babies stayed in effect but no matter how long it remained it was in effect during the birth of Moses.

5. This is how we get that there were probably 3 million Hebrews.

Exodus 12:37 (NIV)

37 The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children.
